项目描述
The 农民工教育 Program is a federally-funded educational program intended to support high quality education programs for migratory children. It also ensures that students ages 3 through 21 are not only provided with appropriate education services that address their special needs but also that they receive appropriate opportunities to meet the challenging state academic content and achievement standards that all children are expected to meet.

- Support high-quality and comprehensive educational programs for migratory children to help reduce the 教育中断 and other problems that result from repeated moves;
- Ensure that migratory children who move among the states are not penalized in any manner by disparities among the states in curriculum, 毕业要求, and state academic content and student academic achievement standards;
- Ensure that migratory children are provided with appropriate educational services (including supportive services) that address their special needs in a coordinated and efficient manner;
- Ensure that migratory children receive full and appropriate opportunities to meet the same challenging state academic content and achievement standards that all children are expected to meet; and
- Design programs to help migratory children overcome 教育中断, 文化和语言障碍, 社会隔离, 各种健康相关问题, and other factors that inhibit the ability of such children to make a successful transition to postsecondary education or employment.
参赛资格要求
A child is considered "migrant" if the parent or guardian is a migratory worker in the agricultural, 乳制品, 木材, or fishing industries and whose family has moved during the past three years. A "qualifying" move can range from moving across school district boundaries or from one state to another for the purpose of finding temporary or seasonal employment. A young adult may also qualify if he or she has moved on his own for the same reasons. 资格期限为三年，从最后一次搬家之日起算. Eligibility is established through an interview conducted by a 农民工教育 recruiter who visits both home and employment locations where migrant workers are employed. The law states that migrant education services are a priority for those students whose education has been interrupted during the current school year and who are failing, or are most at risk of failing to meet state content and performance standards.

Health 服务 – Through the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE), Dental Screening and Dental Clinics are provided to Migrant students with the greatest need. 如果存在其他医疗问题，则转介给L.A.C.O.E.’s Health Coordinator who, in turn, finds medical services for the students and their families.

Our supplemental curriculum is aligned to the newly adopted Common Core State Standards in Language Arts and 数学. It is research-based, and contains high interest content and concepts. 我们的课程侧重于语言艺术、数学、艺术和STEM. The 星期六学校课程 are available for migrant students in Kinder 到12th 年级.
In addition, we also offer an instrumental guitar class for migrant students in 5th 到12th 年级.

A vital component of our School Readiness Program is the participation of migrant parents in the education of their pre-school children. Parents are required to participate in the adult education component of the MESR Program. The family education model is designed to assist migrant parents by providing instruction on early literacy and math skills to support their children’s academic success.
The School Readiness Program is available to migrant pre-school students’ ages 3 to 5 years of age.
暑期学校
Migrant students, 年级s K-12, are invited to attend summer school at a selected site. 学生 in 年级s K-12 participate in an intensive two week Writers’ Institute where students work through the writing process to publish a book.
In addition, students participate in a two week STEM Academy to develop 21st century skills needed to lead in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. 学生 develop problem-solving skills using a hands-on approach in a fun and interactive way.
