菠菜网lol正规平台 Food Service Among Top Eight in State

The Nutrition Services Branch of the Long Beach Unified School District was honored with the 1999 Outstanding School Lunch Program Award at the December 7 Board of Education meeting. Each year, only eight school districts in California receive this honor. Violet Henry, child nutrition supervisor for the California Department of Education, Child Nutrition Division, presented the award for overall excellence in everyday operations. "This program is a model for including nutrition as an integral part of our children's learning experience," said Henry. The district excelled in all four areas that were evaluated: administration, nutrition, operations and communications and marketing. Singled out for praise were the Jordan High School food court and the SHAPE (Shaping Health As Partners in Education) program that emphasizes nutritious meals and nutrition education. Nutrition education in the classroom and access to nutrition information on the school district website were also acknowledged as exemplary.
